About Jaime

I'm from Bogotá, Colombia. I taught for more than five years in Bogotá's public schools, more than 500 students a year, and was an assistant professor at the National University of Colombia, where I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in political science.

I'm the author of two academic books (Toronto Academic Press, 2025), I work as a data analyst, and I'm a licensed life insurance advisor in Ontario. I've lived in Ontario since 2024 and work in English every day, so I know where English speakers get stuck in Spanish and why.

About the lesson

We start by talking, from the first class. I find out what you need Spanish for — travel, family, work with Latin American clients, a school course — and build the lessons around that.

Grammar comes in when you need it, explained with examples from real conversations, not lists to memorize. Every class ends with a short task you can practise on your own.

Levels: complete beginner to advanced. I teach the Spanish spoken in Latin America and explain the differences with Spain when they matter.

Format: 60-minute lessons, online by video call or in person in Mississauga.

The first 30 minutes are free: a diagnostic of your level and goals, and a personalized learning plan. Every lesson after that is paid.
