About Madeleine

English was my A* subject at school, I went on to study English and American Literature at University before finding Art History. Even so, my love of English has never gone away. I love expressing myself in this language confidently and I want to guide you to find your feet within this now global language as well.

I have a years experience teaching English as a Foreign Language to students in Malaysia. Their age range was 11-18 and the class sizes were 30 students plus. I held 1:1 tutoring sessions with some of the more eager students and found that this is where my abilities to teach really shone.

Paying attention to the needs of one individual student at a time really allowed my tutoring to flourish. I was told then that I helped a lot of young people feel more confident in their English. I have no doubt that I can do the same for you too!

About the lesson

When it comes to teaching English I believe it's important to start very conversationally, allowing you get comfortable in speaking the language with me.

After we have gotten to know one another a little more, I would tailor our lessons to subjects that interest you i.e. a time in history that you love or the cuisine of a country that you find interesting. Or, perhaps you're looking for more practical language assistance i.e. in CV writing or in professional email exchange. I can guide you and improve your English in both of these more informal and formal areas.

I will be checking your grammar and your use of tenses, correcting them, amending your pronunciation where necessary and giving you synonyms for words to help build your portfolio of language.

We would work with written tasks as well as verbal, some quizzes and some mini tasks, each tailored to you as the individual student. I may give you homework between lessons but I promise it will be interesting!

I am also an experienced copyeditor, I would be able to help you draft essays and long bodies of text correctly and precisely.
