About Jamila

Hello! My name is Jamila, and I am a first-year Neuroscience student. I have a strong passion for STEM and hope to pursue a career in the field of neuroscience. I have always been interested in how things work, especially the brain, and I want to help other students to find that same interest in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I’ve just done my own GCSEs and A-levels and I know that it’s not always easy to learn. One thing I’ve always strongly felt is that not everyone learns the same way and sometimes the way a topic is explained in class just doesn’t register. That doesn't mean you aren't capable of understanding it! Sometimes all it takes is a different explanation or method. This is something that I want to remember when tutoring because I want to learn how each student learns best rather than expecting everyone to learn the same way. My goal is to make lessons a comfortable place to be, to help students feel confident in asking questions and to show students that they are capable of a lot more than they think.

I tutor GCSE students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, adapting my methods to suit the student’s learning style and specific areas for improvement. My lessons focus on breaking down difficult subjects into simpler explanations. I use practice questions and go through exam-style questions to improve understanding and exam technique. Classes are typically one hour long but can be modified to fit the student's needs. I recently completed my A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, so I know the subjects well and any issues students may face.
