About Wesley

I am a native New Yorker and student at NYU, in pursuit of both my BA in Economic Theory & Educational Policy and my MPA in Policy. I have always been deeply passionate about expanding access and opportunity in education, and have worked in different teaching and tutoring positions since I was 12 years old. Most of my experience has been in mathematics education and executive functioning/life skills support, but I have worked with students on all subjects. I am the founder of a small private tutoring, mentorship, and life skills coaching business called Prysmind: Innovations in Learning, which I hope to expand to provide students across the US the chance to learn in an environment where they feel represented and driven to develop and pursue their vision of success!

About the lesson

I will always create a supportive learning environment where both students of all abilities and backgrounds are able to flourish and go above and beyond in their educational pursuits. I have worked with students of all ages, teaching in elementary school classrooms, in SHSAT prep programs, in High School Special Education departments, and in the homes of adult learners preparing for their GEDs. I have a deep understanding of various curricula, including that of all AP and IB courses, and I'm skilled in preparing students for any type of standardized tests (e.g. SAT, ACT, GED) and entrance exams. I have a particular focus on working with students with IEPs and other learning differences, adapting my lesson plans and materials to fit their unique needs. My approach is centered on the individual student. I prioritize engagement and fostering a genuine drive to learn over simply cramming information. I create all my own lesson materials, personalizing them for each student. My methods are hands-on and project-based to make learning dynamic and effective. To keep everyone connected and on track, I manage a Google Classroom for each student. This allows both students and parents to see progress, access practice materials, and find helpful external resources. I believe in open communication and am always available for parents to reach out with questions or concerns. For your convenience and your child's comfort, I am happy to host sessions or travel anywhere within NYC. I am most dedicated to creating a learning space where your child feels comfortable and ready to succeed!
