My approach to teaching 3D printing is all about empowerment through hands-on learning. I believe in guiding you through the entire process, from understanding the fundamentals to tackling complex challenges.
A typical lesson might start with a clear explanation of a concept, followed by a practical demonstration. Then, you'll get to apply what you've learned, experimenting and troubleshooting with my support. I want you to feel confident and capable, ready to take on your own 3D printing projects.
We'll cover a range of topics tailored to your needs and interests, including:
* 3D printer basics: Setting up your machine, understanding its components, and essential maintenance
* Assembling a printer: If you're starting from a kit, I'll guide you through every step.
* Choosing and using a slicer: Transforming your 3D model into printable instructions
* Leveling the bed: Achieving perfect first layers for successful prints
* Different materials and their requirements: Understanding how to choose and print with various filaments
* Printer calibration and tuning: Getting the most out of your machine with precise adjustments
* Advanced techniques: Exploring multi-material printing, support structures, and more
* Printer firmware and Klipper: Optimizing your printer's performance and capabilities
* Troubleshooting: Tackling those frustrating print failures and getting back on track
What sets me apart is my focus on problem-solving and practical application. I'll equip you with the knowledge and skills to overcome challenges independently and push your 3D printing boundaries. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to take your skills to the next level, I'm here to help you succeed.
Let's turn those 3D printing dreams into reality!

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first experience using a computer was when I was in grade school, it was an Apple IIe. I fondly remember playing some school related games on that green tinted screen, like Oregon Trail and Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiago. I remember helping the teacher set up the computers for the other students because I picked it up so quickly.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

The technological evolution that has marked me most would have to be 3D printing, especially the recent advances. A turning point in this field will be when 3D printers are like appliances, and everyone will have one in their house, like a microwave. Imagine breaking a part on a kids toy or other household object. Instead of throwing it away and buying a new one as we have all become accustomed to in this day and age, you just print a replacement part. Take the power of repair back into the power of the consumer.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

Since I was very young I have always had an interest and innate affinity with computers. I remember getting my first laptop from my Father, and shortly after I discovered Linux and started exploring different distributions like Vector Linux, Ubuntu, Slack Linux, and several more; I couldn't get enough! I've always enjoyed tinkering with technology, from building my own PC to troubleshooting network issues. This led me to explore web development, android kernel development, python programming. That really was the match that started the passion. I have watched smartphones develop over the years and have run custom firmware on many of them. I discovered 3D printers about 10 years ago and have been hooked since. I started with a clone of a Creality Ender 3 and shortly after figured out how to build and flash my own custom Marlin firmware. Then along came Klipper. I have now owned over 10 3D printers.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

While I admire the likes of Jobs, I would say that Steve Wozniak is really more of an inspiration for me. I understand the importance of a person like Jobs, and what he contributed to Apple, but Woz was really the brains and Jobs would have had nothing to show on stage without Woz.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

In high school, I was frustrated with the limitations of my computer's operating system. I felt like I was constantly hitting walls and couldn't truly customize my experience. Then, I stumbled upon Linux. At first, it seemed intimidating, but I was determined to learn. I spent hours reading forums, experimenting with different distributions, and slowly but surely, I started to unlock its potential. That moment of discovery, realizing I had the power to shape my digital environment, was incredibly empowering. It sparked a lifelong passion for open-source technology and a desire to share that freedom with others.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

I would say "I understand your frustration, and I know things can seem complicated. But believe me, it's often simpler than it looks. We'll take it slow, break things down into smaller steps, and you'll be surprised how quickly you start to understand."
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I also have a passion for videography, including drones as well. I also dabble a little with some woodworking. I have a small desktop CNC in my garage, and I helped a friend build and set up a 5x10 Avid CNC.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

What makes me a Superprof is my passion for technology and my ability to make complex concepts easy to understand. I'm patient, supportive, and I adapt my teaching style to each student's needs. I'm confident that I can help anyone, regardless of their current skill level, to become more comfortable and confident with technology.
