About Getrude

My name is Gertrude, and I am an outgoing and enthusiastic second-year Accounting student at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). I am passionate about education and enjoy helping students build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve their academic goals.

I have three years of tutoring experience, having started tutoring when I was in Grade 11. Over the years, I have successfully helped students in Accounting, English, Business Studies, Mathematics, Commercial Law, and other high school subjects. This experience has taught me how to adapt my teaching style to suit different learning needs, making lessons engaging, practical, and easy to understand.

My strengths lie in Accounting, Mathematics, and commerce-related subjects, and I believe that every student has the potential to succeed with the right guidance and support. I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from their mistakes, and growing in confidence.

Teaching is more than just explaining concepts to me; it's about inspiring students to believe in their abilities and helping them reach their full potential. I am reliable, well-prepared, and dedicated to ensuring that every lesson is productive and tailored to each student's goals.

Outside of my studies and tutoring, I enjoy watching movies and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve academic success.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is student-centred, practical, and focused on building confidence. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit the individual's pace, learning style, and academic goals. I simplify complex concepts using real-life examples, step-by-step explanations, and plenty of practice questions to ensure students fully understand the material rather than simply memorising it.

I am proficient in English and can comfortably teach and explain concepts in English. I create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

A typical lesson begins with a review of previous work, followed by clear explanations of new concepts, guided examples, and interactive problem-solving. I also provide exam techniques, study strategies, and constructive feedback to help students improve their performance and confidence.

My lessons are suitable for high school learners, TVET and college students, and university students studying Accounting, Financial Management, Business Studies, Economics, and related commerce subjects. Whether you need help preparing for exams, completing assignments, or strengthening your understanding of difficult topics, I am committed to helping you achieve your academic goals.
