About Jessica

Well, hello!
My name is Jessica, I am a 22-year-old student currently studying to become a Registered Child Educator in Ontario! I have always loved children, I grew up the eldest of three siblings and have been blessed with patience, empathy, and kindness, traits I believe make me a great fit to teach your little one!
I have over a full year tutoring children between the ages of three to twelve as an online tutor, where I had the pleasure of working with over thirty students with a five out of five star review.

I have also had the opportunity to teach children English overseas in China as a second language. Through that experience, I learned different ways to incorporate play and activity for a more fun, but educational experience.

About the lesson

The first few lessons always start out by evaluating a student’s strengths and weaknesses. From there, I work to gather the best resources to help my students develop their skills.
For children struggling with reading comprehension, we practice reading segments of literature out loud, we discuss what we read as well as our thoughts and opinions.

For children struggling to read, I used a lexical approach. An approach that focuses on introducing word pairs and groups as well as common phrases to build a strong foundation In reading and equip them with the necessary toolsets to better improve critical thinking when they stumble upon any obstacle.

Most importantly, I respect and value every child and student I work with, as every child no matter how young, are competent and deserving of respect.
