About Victoria

Hello future tutees/parents of tutees!

I am a 24 year old master's student at the University of Edinburgh, undertaking a psychology conversion programme part-time. Prior to that, I lived in Germany for six years and completed my bachelor's degree (auf Deutsch!) at the University of Mannheim, where I studied media and communication science. I also worked in Germany for the software company SAP, where I had various marketing and communications roles.
Although I live in Scotland now and love it, I would describe Germany as the place I “grew up“ - what was meant to be a gap year turned into building a life over there, and I have many wonderful friends and memories from my time there.

I am easygoing, chatty, and excited to help others improve their German - all ages welcome! I would describe myself as fluent at this point and having gone through the painstaking process of learning German myself, a logical but sometimes tricky language, I can empathise with where learners - particularly native English speakers - usually get stuck. I have patience in abundance, I don’t mind explaining a concept or grammar rule in multiple ways until we find a way that works for the student.

I’m happy to help with whatever the school syllabus requires, whether that’s homework tasks, essay-writing, grammar, vocabulary and so on. Beyond that though, I keep up to date with contemporary German culture (I listen to German music and enjoy watching German shows on Netflix if time allows…) and have many friends over there who keep me in the loop with what's new. So, if you or your child would also love a glimpse of German-in-context, I can inject some cultural aspects into the lessons. I believe language learning needs to be fun, for little ones and older ones alike!
