Concept First, Procedure Second Start with the "why": Explain the concept and real-world relevance before diving into formulas. Use visuals, stories, or models (number lines, diagrams, blocks) to ground abstract ideas. Then move to procedural fluency: teach methods step-by-step. Example: > When teaching Pythagoras' Theorem, show a triangle with square tiles on each side before giving the formula. --- 3. Encourage Mathematical Thinking Use open-ended questions: “What would happen if…?” or “Can you find another way?” Promote reasoning and explanation, not just correct answers.
