About Sharmi

Hello! I'm a friendly, enthusiastic and fully qualified primary school teacher with four years of experience teaching the British curriculum in outstanding schools, alongside three years of tutoring experience prior to gaining my teaching qualification.

I specialize in Primary English and Mathematics, with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and the skills required for academic success, including 11+ preparation.

I wholeheartedly believe that every child has the potential to achieve their very best when given the right guidance, encouragement and opportunities. I am passionate about education because I recognize that learning goes far beyond the classroom. It opens doors, creates opportunities, builds independence and can have a lasting impact on a child's confidence, future and quality of life.

For me, teaching is about much more than academic achievement. It is about inspiring curiosity, nurturing a love of learning and helping children recognize just how capable they are. Being part of that journey is what makes teaching so meaningful and rewarding. There is nothing quite like seeing a child's confidence grow, witnessing those breakthrough moments when something finally clicks, and celebrating the progress they once thought was beyond their reach.

My approach is warm, patient and encouraging, while maintaining high expectations for every learner. I tailor lessons to individual strengths, needs and learning styles, creating an environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, embracing challenges and learning from mistakes.

Above all, I believe learning should be fun, inspiring and empowering. My goal is not only to help children achieve excellent academic progress, but also to develop confident, curious and independent learners who are excited about the opportunities their education can bring.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is personalized, engaging and results-driven, ensuring every child feels supported, challenged and confident in their learning.

I follow the ‘I do, We do, You do’ teaching model, beginning with clear teacher modeling, progressing to guided practice and gradually building pupils' confidence to work independently. I incorporate high-quality questioning, regular retrieval practice and purposeful repetition to strengthen understanding, develop long-term retention and address misconceptions.

I carefully scaffold learning to minimize cognitive overload, breaking complex concepts into manageable steps and adapting my teaching to each child's individual needs, learning pace and ability. Above all, I believe learning should be enjoyable! My lessons are interactive, encouraging and designed to inspire curiosity and a genuine love of learning.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, providing sufficient time to revisit prior learning, introduce new concepts, practice skills and assess progress.

I am a qualified British curriculum teacher with four years' experience in outstanding schools, alongside three years of tutoring experience prior to gaining my teaching qualification. I specialize in Primary English and Mathematics, with a strong track record of raising attainment, accelerating progress and building pupils' confidence.

My lessons are designed for children aged 7–11 (Key Stage 2), including those requiring additional support, greater challenge or targeted 11+ examination preparation.
