About Vanessa

Originally from Canada, I've spent years working with children both in the classroom and beyond, giving me a deep understanding of how kids learn and grow at different stages. I'm punctual, highly organized, and genuinely invested in each student's progress. My goal is always to help you build real confidence, not just tick boxes.

If you're a student reading this: Hi! I love helping kids discover they're actually really good at reading and writing.. Even if it doesn't feel that way yet. I promise lessons won't be boring, and I'm always happy to slow down, laugh at a good joke, or celebrate the small wins along the way.

About the lesson

I'm a qualified primary teacher with four years of classroom experience and specialized training in Structured Literacy. My lessons combine evidence-based, explicit phonics and reading instruction with warmth and positive reinforcement, so kids build genuine confidence alongside their skills, not just memorized answers.

Each session runs for 60 minutes and follows a simple, consistent structure: a warm-up, focused teaching on phonics, reading or writing, guided practice, and a short wrap-up. I also send home simple activities to reinforce what we've covered between lessons.

I teach K-6 students, fully online, whether they're building foundational reading skills from scratch, need extra support to catch up, or are ready to be extended with more advanced material.
