About Florence

I am a professional tutor with a PGCE and over 9 years of teaching experience in both schools and private homes in England and abroad. I tutor French, Spanish and Italian at KS3, GCSE, AS and A-Level. I also tutor a range of Primary and Early Years subjects including Maths and English.

I gained my PGCE in July 2018 from the UCL Institute of Education, ranked first in the world for Education. I have experience of teaching Spanish and French in three London schools. This included pastoral roles such as being a form tutor.

I speak five languages and am passionate about the benefits of language learning. Last year I was a student ambassador for the Association for Language Learning (ALL) and as part of my teacher training scholarship attended APPG meetings at the House of Lords to discuss language related issues.

During 2016 and 2017 I tutored many families including primary subjects, 10+ preparation, AS Level and GCSE Spanish. I spent several months home-schooling a Russian pupil while her family were on holiday in Miami.

During the summer and autumn 2015 I tutored 8-13 year olds in two different families on the French Riviera and I spent the 2014/15 academic year teaching 8-11 year olds at a primary school in Madrid. The previous academic year I taught 3-6 year olds at a school in Alicante. During my 17 months in Spain I tutored children in seven different families.

I am aware of different teaching methods and curricula: I have taught the UK Secondary (languages) and Primary syllabuses, used the Jollyphonics method to help children learn to read and write and prepared children for the Cambridge English PET and KET exams and the Trinity exam.

I find one-to-one tutoring particularly enjoyable as I can develop a very close relationship with the tutee and tailor the classes to his or her interests and level and as a result see huge improvements from week to week, which is extremely rewarding.
