About Brooke
I'm a speech language pathologist who has years of experience working in intensive educational clinics in Charlotte, in private schools, including years in a Montessori school as their learning specialist. I'm adept in providing academic assessment and intervention addressing a child's individual needs. I am focused on people feeling capable, and getting support that respects their needs and preferences.
I have worked in the Charlotte area for years; I love working as part of a team. When not working, I spend time with my family and pets; though to be honest, I'm often working.
The progress of my students is really important to me. If what we are doing doesn't work, then we will try something different- It's really important to me that we are working together to achieve our goals.

I'm a speech language pathologist who has years of experience working in intensive educational clinics in Charlotte, in private schools, including years in a Montessori school as their learning specialist. I'm adept in providing academic assessment and intervention addressing a child's individual needs. i've worked recent years as an SLP in public schools, which I love, but I miss working on more directly academic goals. I'm focused on strengths based individualized instruction for speech-language and academic skills for elementary and middle school aged students and adults. I can help with interventions to improve skills or support existing homework/schoolwork.
When providing interventions for students that are struggling in school; I do like to prepare to do a basic baseline assessment to drive goals and gather appropriate materials to guide instruction.
Articulation/language use and comprehension: use of a baseline articulation probe and age/grade appropriate language screeners. If existing information is available via teacher feedback or previous assessment, that can be used to guide intervention.
Reading: letter/sound knowledge, nonsense word reading, sight word knowledge, reading fluency rate and comprehension
Spelling: Writing sample to see spelling accuracy, pattern of errors
Writing: Writing sample to see spelling accuracy, letter formation/spacing/sizing; use of writing conventions, quality of written expression information and independence.
Math: Check using grade appropriate math screener to check computation skills, concept understanding, word problems, etc.
