About Luca

Tom is our lead Math and Science tutor, having achieved strong results in both subjects during VCE. Since graduating, he has built extensive tutoring experience, working with students across a range of levels and abilities.

He is passionate about helping students improve their understanding and confidence, using clear explanations and a supportive approach to make challenging concepts easier to grasp.

About the lesson

Tom is our lead math and sciences tutor, and focuses on building a session that suits you!

Tom’s sessions are tailored to each student, and focus on the content they are learning in the now! Lessons are engaging, interactive, and designed to build real understanding—not just memorization.

Students are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. With clear explanations and a flexible approach, sessions help build confidence, improve results, and develop strong independent thinking in math and science.

Our hourly lesson structure is as follows!
1. Quick Check-In (5 mins)
Review recent school content, identify any problem areas, and set clear goals for the session.

2. Concept Breakdown (15–20 mins)
Explain key ideas in a simple, structured way, using examples to build strong foundational understanding.

3. Guided Practice (20 mins)
Work through questions together step-by-step, encouraging the student to think aloud and ask questions.

4. Independent Application (10 mins)
Student attempts similar questions independently to reinforce learning, with support as needed.

5. Final questions and weekly goals (5 minutes)
We make sure the student understood the session's learnings and knows what to do moving forward, before setting goals for the week ahead!

Luca has been a fantastic help to my son. They started together over 2 years ago when my son was in year 8 and struggling. Since Luca came in my son has built better structure and has seen a consistent rise in grades, but most pleasingly my son is more willing to study and sit down and do work because of the methods Luca provides him. Would highly recommend!

I highly recommend Luca as a tutor.

He has a unique the unique ability of being and to build trust and rapport with people, centred around teaching and learning.

His ability to connect with his students and then his natural talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior to anything I have seen.

He also has excellent written and verbal communication skills with both parents and students.

I highly recommend Luca to any parent or student wanting to excel in their subject of choice.
