About Nicole
I am an experienced elementary school teacher specializing in 1st through 3rd grade. I have many years of classroom experience supporting a wide range of learners, including English Language Learners and students who need extra support or enrichment. I believe every child can succeed with the right guidance, encouragement, and structure. My tutoring sessions are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I focus on building strong academic foundations while also growing confidence and a love for learning. I partner closely with families to ensure students feel successful both in our sessions and in the classroom.
Personally I have 3 children, 11, 7 and 5. I enjoy baking, eating and running (but I only run because I love to eat). I live in the Monterey area but am originally from Hawaii.

I provide student-centered tutoring for 1st through 3rd grade students, using explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, and independent application to build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. A typical lesson depends on the targeted skill but generally includes a brief review, a focused mini-lesson with think-aloud modeling, supported practice, independent work, and a quick formative assessment to guide next steps. What sets me apart is my years of experience working with young learners, including English Language Learners, and my ability to scaffold instruction so each child feels confident and successful. My lessons are ideal for students needing foundational support, targeted intervention, or enrichment, and are tailored to meet individual learning needs while keeping sessions engaging, structured, and encouraging.
