About Daniel
For many years now I have been a passionate teacher and coach.
I've taught at secondary education as a science teacher, before entering into Higher Education as a lecturer.
My PhD research involved studying novel intercellular communication systems between the lung and immune system, having found new pathways which are currently submitted for publication. In this role I mixed lab research with bioinformatics and AI to find new pathways, perform genetic analysis and more.
As a sports coach, I trained the UK's most successful university Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team, and am very proud of the team spirit and dedication we fostered to win multiple titles over the years.

My current role as a Teaching Consultant sees me teach across the university, using my extensive experience in teaching and research to teach AI literacy, research skills, data analysis, statistics, critical thinking and finding information to rapidly upskill our students for the modern world, sharing practice with other lecturers to ensure our courses are at the forefront of technology and rapidly changing workplaces.
My previous role as a lecturer in biosciences saw me teaching immunology, biochemistry and pharmacology to hundreds of students, and I became a Course Leader of Biological Sciences, helping to coach and guide students through our Biological Sciences course.
I hold a PhD in Immunology, Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, as well as an MRes in Neuropharmacology. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, have worked as a personal tutor for five years, and have previous experience teaching in secondary education.
I am able to help a broad range of potential tutees, from small to medium business owners looking for help integrating AI into their workflows, students studying biology or statistics, those with an interest in STEM higher education, and university students who want to discuss academic skills, AI, or statistics and experimental design for research.
My AI sessions encourage my tutees to engage with AI critically, understanding good and bad use cases for it, performing process mapping to identify AI productivity gains, unique use cases for AI in your business or research and much more.
One of my key teaching philosophies is setting you up to be able to engage in lifelong independent learning and how to think critically. As the world changes so rapidly, these are some of the best skills I can give you, outside of the technical and knowledge skills you will gain under my guidance.
A typical session with me will cover an initial consultation to set out our goals and a learning plan, and then subsequent one hour sessions discussing content with structured quizzes, homework and wrap-around support in achieving your goals.
