About Kara

As a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), I bring a strong foundation in mathematics, including a 790 SAT Math score and a 5 on the AP Precalculus exam. I offer patient, personalized tutoring through Algebra II, focusing on helping students truly understand the material rather than simply memorizing formulas. In each lesson, I work through problems alongside the student, identify areas that need extra attention, and use targeted practice to build both understanding and confidence. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s individual needs and learning preferences, creating a supportive environment where questions are always welcome and progress comes one step at a time.

I personally struggled with physical disability and pain since middle school, and I understand what it's like to fall behind due to things you can't control. Whatever the reason someone is here for tutoring, it's important to me to approach with kindness and camaraderie. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working at their own pace.

About the lesson

My lessons are centered around creating a comfortable and supportive environment where students can ask questions, work through challenges, and build confidence in math. Rather than relying solely on lectures or theory, I focus on talking through problems step by step, identifying areas where a student may be struggling, and using practice problems to reinforce understanding. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach based on what works best for them. My goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them understand why it works and feel more confident tackling similar problems on their own.
