About David

Hi there,

My name is David and I am a UC Davis student. I am majoring in Biotechnology and I'd love to help as many people as I can. I've had my difficulties learning in the past so I know how to be patient and understanding. Everyone is capable of doing well in school, sometimes they just need someone who can make learning easiser.

I used to struggle with math and learning in general. It took one teacher to set me on the right track (her name was Mrs Ligan). She was understanding of me and that changed the direction my life went in. I think teaching is extremely rewarding because it allows you to change lives. Education is important and can be very influential.

I am currently a junior going to UC Davis. I am good at school and I have a solid background in the sciences. I am most confident at teaching math but I can teach other things too! I have experience babysitting and teaching people about raptors on my campus (the class of bird not the dinosaur). I have tutored friends and a few younger children. I have a solid background and I am very patient. :)

About the lesson

Tutoring is about the student, so I would want to know what my students goals are. Following that train of thought I want to know what is keeping my student from meeting their goals. If they are struggling with a subject I will really try to pinpoint why they are struggling. Sometimes students are struggling because they just dont practice enough, because they dont have enough background information, or maybe they just need more exposure to get those gears cranking.

I have worked with young students and I have worked with people my age (20). I have tutored the basics and I have tutored college calculus.

Find a teacher that will cater to your needs and dont settle. Sometimes people know math but dont know how to teach it.

A recent event that I am fond of would be:

Going backpacking with my friends.

Make a goal!
