About Marisa

Hi! I’m Marisa – I’m Here to Help You
A Little About Me:
I’m a student at McGill University, studying Political Science and Economics, but I’ve always had a passion for a variety of subjects like Math, English, and History. I’ve been involved in academic clubs and leadership roles for years, and now I’m excited to share my knowledge and help you succeed! I’m also a huge fan of dogs, and my favourite ice cream is brownie fudge by Ben and Jerry’s.

What I Can Help With:
Whether you’re struggling with equations, writing essays, or understanding historical events, I’m here to guide you and make learning less stressful. Here’s how I can help:

Math: Breaking down difficult concepts and helping you practice problems step-by-step.
Economics: Making sense of both micro and macroeconomics in a simple way.
English: From writing essays to analyzing texts, I can help you improve your reading and writing skills.
History: Helping you understand key events, dates, and the importance of historical context in a way that’s easy to remember.

Why Choose Me?
I understand how frustrating it can be when a subject feels overwhelming, and my goal is to make things easier for you. I love creating a positive, friendly learning environment where you can ask questions and feel confident in your abilities. We’ll go at your pace, and I’ll make sure you leave each session with a clearer understanding of the material.

Experience:
Years of experience in debating, Model UN, and student leadership, where I’ve learned how to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
Organizing and leading TEDx events, where I’ve helped speakers develop their ideas and present them confidently.
In-depth knowledge of a wide range of subjects, thanks to my double major at McGill and my active involvement in academic programs.
Extensive experience tutoring students across various academic levels and adapting to diverse learning abilities.

Let’s Work Together!
I’m here to help you feel confident in and help you reach your academic goals. Whether it’s prepping for an exam, improving your grades, or just getting a better handle on a subject, I’m ready to work with you!

About the lesson

As a tutor, i am a firm believer that each student has their own ways of retaining and learning content. I generally consider my teaching approaches as adaptable to student needs. However, i like providing exercises for areas which are considered important in a particular topic, as well as for areas in which students face difficulties in. Typically i start by outlining what we will be going through in each tutoring session, and i also like adding timed exercises especially when students have tests or exams approaching. For younger students, i find that interactive activities and games generate more engagement towards the tutoring session.
