About Jade
I have taught English Composition at the college level since 2005, and absolutely love it. My career has spanned two states, multiple schools, online and on-ground campuses, introductory classes for students learning English as a second (or other) language, research writing for students heading into their majors, individual work with students working on Master's thesis and Doctoral Dissertation projects, as well as professors completing book-length projects. I have a Master of Arts in English (with a focus in Popular Culture), a Bachelor of Arts in English: Professional Writing with a minor in Technical Communication, and several of my own publications.

My teaching methods come from the ideas of Lev Vygotsky's "scaffolding" -- the building of knowledge upon existing knowledge. I prefer to have students take notes during the process of prewriting and researching, as well as when organizing, so they can revisit these whilst revising their essays (or other texts, depending on what we're doing). I also like to focus on the idea of understanding rhetorical analysis (looking at the rhetorical situation of a text) when undertaking any writing or reading assignment.

If you cancel within 4 hours prior to an in-person lesson, I do charge a $10 cancellation fee. If I must cancel/reschedule (any) lesson within 24 hours of the lesson, I will offer $5 off for the inconvenience.
