About Peter
As a teacher for the past 7 years, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I find the connection created with each student through math is something that helps each student reach for their highest potential.
The parts of teaching I enjoy the most are helping students achieve their true potential. When a concept is broken down into smaller parts, it always makes me so happy when students reach that "aha" moment of understanding. They become more excited and confident with their knowledge.
My teachers and I are ready to help you with any and all academic needs from Kindergarten through College. We all have at least 5 years experience teaching within our own subject and age ranges. This helps you feel at ease knowing your tutor specializes in exactly what you are looking for.
Note: I am partnered with many online schools, including Laurel Springs! This gives me the capability to see the curriculum your student is working on, and work with them in real time. If you are a part of any online schooling, you have come to the right teacher!
I now have many licensed teachers who work for me, and can handle subjects and age groups they specialize in. We are available for all your tutoring needs, and look forward to serving you!
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Physics and Mathematics, and began substitute teaching in all grade levels to find which one was the most enjoyable. Although I enjoy teaching all grade levels, middle school is the one I chose to stick with throughout my teaching career.
I have a Masters degree in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
I have been a tutor for over ten years, and a full time public school teacher for the past seven years.

Identifying a student's understanding of the material they are working on allows me to see where any gaps may exist. Once these gaps are identified, I always work backwards until the gap has been filled, before moving into any new material. This method of instruction works very well for increasing students' confidence, both academically and personally.
I have worked with students of all different learning styles and abilities. As a public school teacher, the integrated classroom allows for students of all abilities to be within the same classroom to develop a more diverse experience for each student. The types of students I have worked with ranges from severe disabilities, to high honors students, and everything in between.
Always try new tutors until you find one that works well with your learning style.

We live in Maine and I was looking for a local math tutor for my son, Andrew, who is a junior in HS. A friend from Massachusetts sent me the link for "A traveling Teacher" as she had been very happy with their services for her own daughter. I was a little hesitant at first with the fact that it would be virtual but decided to give it a try. Peter initially talked with us to see what are needs were and was very accommodating schedule-wise. My husband and I have been very impressed with his services. He stays in contact with Andrew's math teacher to make sure they are on the same page and encourages Andrew to forward any current and upcoming concepts in Algebra, so that the tutor, Nate, can be prepared for the following weekly sessions.
I have found Peter to be very hands on, enthusiastic and excited about providing a great service to his customers. Andrew has commented that his tutor, Nate, is super nice, approachable, extremely knowledgeable in math and overall a great teacher. Andrew has been struggling with his honors algebra 2 class but seems to be doing better since we started the tutoring sessions. He actually scored a 100% on his quiz this past week. My husband and I are extremely satisfied with this company and would not hesitate to recommend its services to anyone.I have loved working with David. He is an amazing tutor and is great at explaining things to me. He does not judge me at all if I get a problem wrong and always encourages me to try again and not to give up on the problem.
Our child has a diagnosed learning disability specific to math so the subject has always been an uphill battle filled with tears and frustration. A Traveling Teacher was recommended by one of our child's former special education teachers. Peter was open to reviewing our child's IEP, hearing our concerns, and what kind of personality we felt would work best with our child. The tutor Peter paired our child with has been great! He is a high-caliber teacher who is patient and keeps the sessions light-hearted yet focused. He really takes the frustration out of the work during their sessions which means so much to all of us. We're so thankful for the support provided. We definitely recommend Peter and A Traveling Teacher.
As an educator, I value good educational support. Justin was an excellent tutor who helped my daughter in college Chemistry II. Not only did he guide her academically, but he also had great study tips that she followed and found useful. If needed in the future, I would not hesitate to contact A Traveling Teacher again, and I would highly recommend them for your child's tutoring needs.
Peter is very knowledgeable and affable, and explains math concepts clearly. Also very reliable and punctual.
Peter was attentive to our needs, adjusting his work and his lessons to both of my daughters who are of different ages. He is patient and very clear in his explanations of the material.
My daughters enjoy their weekly lessons with Peter.View more recommendations
