About Garrett

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Pure and Applied Mathematics, which means I've studied math at a depth well beyond the courses I tutor — so I can explain the same idea five different ways until one of them clicks for *you*.

I got my start tutoring my two younger siblings through high school Trigonometry and AP Calculus AB, and both of them scored a 4 on the AP exam. Teaching family taught me two things: real patience, and how to make math make sense to someone who was convinced they'd never get it.

My favorite moment as a tutor is watching a student go from "I'm just not a math person" to solving problems on their own — because there's no such thing as "not a math person," only explanations that haven't been tried yet. I'm patient, I never make anyone feel bad for asking a question, and I don't move on until you actually get it.

About the lesson

Whether you're fighting through Algebra I or II, can't make the unit circle and identities stick in Trigonometry, or feel lost in AP Calculus — I can help you turn it around.

In our first session, I find out exactly where the gaps are, because struggling in math is almost never about the current chapter — it's usually a missing piece from an earlier one. Then we rebuild from solid ground: I explain each concept in plain language, show you *why* the method works instead of asking you to memorize it, and walk you through problems step by step until you can solve them on your own. You'll leave every session with targeted practice problems so the understanding sticks.

I tailor everything to your goal: homework help, test and exam prep, AP Calculus AB prep, or getting ahead of next semester.

Lessons are available online ($30/hr) or in person in Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and Nashville ($45/hr). Message me with what you're working on or when your next test is, and we'll make a plan.
