About Valio

I have a particular interest in pure mathematics, especially probability, analysis, and dynamical systems, although I also have experience with statistics and mathematical physics.

Alongside my studies, I have worked as an undergraduate researcher at the University of Warwick and have been a mentor for other university students. These experiences have strengthened my interest in helping others develop their own understanding and confidence in mathematics. I enjoy the process of working through a difficult idea together and seeing it become something that feels intuitive.

About the lesson

Mathematics is much more interesting when you understand why something works, rather than simply memorising how to do it.

I aim to make my lessons a space where students can ask questions, explore ideas, and develop confidence in their own mathematical thinking. I like to discuss why a particular approach works, what other approaches might be possible, and how to recognise the underlying ideas in a problem. I believe this leads to a much deeper understanding and, ultimately, makes mathematics more enjoyable.

I am currently undertaking an MSc in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Oxford, having graduated with a First Class degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, graduating among the top of my cohort. I have three years of tutoring experience, working with students across a range of abilities and levels.

I offer lessons of 1 hour or 90 minutes, depending on what works best for you, and I am happy to be flexible. I teach all levels of mathematics, including GCSE, A-level, Further Mathematics, and University level mathematics.

Whether you are preparing for an exam, looking to strengthen your foundations, or simply want to develop a deeper understanding of the subject, I would be more than happy to help.

Valio was my Tutor for A Level mathematics. I was really struggling to understand the content as was getting below C on every test. I contacted Valio and together we crafted a plan to quickly get my learning back on track. Valio was understanding and patient, He was very flexible and was amazing at explaining the different equations and how to work around them, even if they look scary. I passed with an A. Something I’m extremely proud of myself for and I have Valio to thank for that! I recommend Valio heavily as a tutor! Thank you for helping me and getting me into my dream university!
