About Sumin
My name is Sumin Jeong, and I am a fourth-year student in Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences at McMaster University. I have a strong background in mathematics and completed Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12 IB Math, earning a 98% in Grade 12 IB Math and a 99% in Pre-Calculus. Math has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I enjoy helping students break down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps. I look forward to supporting students as they build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and improve their understanding of math.

I believe there are two essential parts to succeeding in math: understanding the process and consistent practice. Math often requires students to apply the same concept in different ways, so I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each step rather than simply memorizing formulas. When students understand the process behind one problem, they can apply that knowledge to many other types of questions. During tutoring sessions, I help with homework or specific class questions when needed. If there is no specific homework to review, I teach the current unit in a clear and efficient way, with guided examples and practice problems throughout the session. My goal is to help students build confidence, improve problem-solving skills, and become comfortable approaching math questions flexibly. I am comfortable teaching math from grade school up to Grade 12 Math.
