About May Myat
Hello! I am a passionate educator currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Having completed accelerated IGCSEs and International A Levels to graduate high school at age 16, I have a deep understanding of effective study strategies, exam preparation, and complex problem-solving.

Every student learns differently, which is why my approach begins by assessing the student's current grade, marks, and their specific struggles to build a tailored teaching technique.
My typical lesson plan that works for most students is teaching the material step-by-step in an effective way and immediately applying it to practice questions during the session, minimizing homework. This is done while fostering academic independence as overreliance on the tutor prevents actual improvement.
Having navigated my own struggles with traditional explanations, I excel at explaining concepts in many different ways until they truly click.
Additionally, I love teaching and I will never turn a student away because of low scores. My priority and passion is to help students understand the material and improve rather than to protect a reputation. My first ever student started at a U (Ungraded) and achieved a B on her final exams after just 6 months of tutoring.
I teach for middle school and high school students (mostly the latter) in English. Higher levels opening in the future.

During my IGCSEs, I had difficulty with Maths, as I am a very slow student and never really had a teacher or tutor who helped me clearly understand it. I didn’t know the basics as well. After learning Maths through May Myat’s guidance and teaching, the subject I’ve always hated became my favorite, and I passed IGCSE Maths with a 7.
