About Sebastian
Hi, I’m Sebastian! I tutor math, science, and computer programming for students in the Greater Toronto Area and online. My goal is to make learning less stressful and more engaging, whether it’s building confidence in class, preparing for a big test, or tackling tricky homework. I am pursuing a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto and hold a Bachelor’s in Mechatronic Systems Engineering with a Minor in Computer Science from Western University, with Distinction. I have gained strong teaching experience over the years, starting as a Math and Science Tutor during my studies at Western, where I provided one-on-one support for middle and high school students. Later, I served as a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Computer Science at U of T, guiding over 1,000 students through coding assignments, office hours, and lecture exercises. What sets me apart is my blend of one-on-one tutoring experience, university-level teaching, and real-world engineering work. At the University of Toronto, I am currently developing technology that uses music to support physical rehabilitation, demonstrating how STEM skills can make a real impact. I bring this perspective into my tutoring, helping students not only understand their subjects but also see the bigger picture of why learning them matters. My teaching style prioritizes being student-focused and adaptable. I recognize that each student learns differently, so I begin by assessing their individual learning levels and preferences. A key aspect of my approach is active problem-solving. Instead of just providing answers, I encourage students to collaborate with me on examples, and articulate their reasoning.
